Hi! Have just joined and finding it all rather overwhelming! Is there an 'ACA 12 Steps for Dummies' post I can read please?!
I've just read the sticky post about the steps, what they are. I've read about the laundry list, about the promises, and the reparenting steps.
I've read a few posts with people talking about 'working' the program, but I can't find the ACTUAL program they are referring to!
Where would I find that please?!
Thank you
There are many ways to "work The Program"; it's not one-size-fits-all. I have used different tools at various times in my recovery including books, therapy, sponsorship, meetings, etc.
There are loads of great recovery books available; just start reading! For me, the light bulb came on the more I learned and related to ACA.
Hi Loveyourlife. My first books that really helped me were Melody Beatty 12 steps for codependence. There are a lot of books that really are good like David Burney and John Bradshaw. Books that teach us how to reparent ourselves
And like Princess K. Says above, there is no one size fits all. Being with others and sharing with others on this site has helped me probably more than anything. That and the books

Ditto Beatties steps for codependency. Its great. John Bradshaws Homecoming or Bradshaw: On the Family are really good. He also has a YouTube series titled Homecoming. Its old, but very good for those exploring ACA.
